A very special thank you to Fleur and Mel at MCM for procuring our new stock of estate single origins.

Nine very special coffees have come into stock offering wonderful flavour profiles and tractability right back to farmers who encourage sustainable ecological farming practices and are furthermore rewarded with a higher market price ensuring these practices continue.

This month we are offering a Guatemala Santa Clara Dwarf Bourbon and Costa Rican Las Lajas (Honey Processed).

Matt, Ash & myself made the road trip to Melbourne last month. As you’d expect... it was coffee, coffee and more coffee. A fantastic cupping session with Mel & Fleur from MCM as well as Jose from Mercanta.

Mercanta’s estate offerings are amazing and the best part is the unparalleled connection with Jose direct to the farmer. What does this mean? Firstly, we now have a direct relationship with the growers and 100% tractability in relation to sourcing. Secondly, fantastic access to rare small lot coffees from farmers who are encouraging sustainable and responsible environmental policy. Thirdly... a premium price is paid to the farmer ensuring their economic viability and further encouraging environmental responsibility.

Some great new accounts have made the switch to Bills Beans.

For one, ‘Quirks’ Pitt St Redfern.

It started with a bang on Tuesday with a queue out the door to try the ‘new’ coffee. Congratulations to Jackie and the crew.

‘Esme’s’, Forbes NSW.

GO LINDA GO!!! Its always nice to work with your customers and help develop their coffee trade grow.

It drives the passion for the bean in us and always makes us want to go the next step. Watching a 300% increase in your customers coffee trade in 8 weeks makes it all worthwhile. The secret? Training, training and more training… and an owner with an open mind.

Well done to Linda and the ‘Esme’s’ all stars!

...Ok the big one…

‘Petty Cash’, Marrickville NSW.

The slightly mad and always entertaining crew at ‘Petty Cash’ has pulled a CUP in the inaugural SMH Good Cafe guide 2011. Then again, why wouldn’t they? It is Marrickville's best breakfast spot.

And for those that haven’t been there yet, it’s at 68 Victoria Rd Marrickville opposite the Park. Look for the eclectic crowd of hipsters, goths, hippies, inner west mums and rock ’n’ roll types… all existing in perfect harmony.

Ahhhh.... if only the world was like petty cash…
